First Midterm Today

October 23, 2006 - 2:21 AM

It's been 5 weeks of school already? Geez, time flies when you're having...

Oh wait. hsdance Well, I have my first midterm today in Earth System Science 130 (Physical Oceanography). This should be easy. rice

p.s. I was unaware that NONE of my video tutorials worked and haven't been working for several weeks but the fact that no one mentioned it to me means that nobody looks at them. bowrofl I've fixed the problem anyway though, and you should be able to watch them again and again and again tear

Same Game, New Record

October 15, 2006 - 2:20 PM

eek I kind of got frustrated 3/4 of the way through and accidently dropped a bunch of blocks down, you can sort of see the mess that I make. I still managed to get ~600k more than my last score though and came 2 lines short of 700. I just like the song you hear every 200 lines, the original tetris theme song. bowdown

My new goal is to hear it 4 times. naughty

Getting Calibrated

October 14, 2006 - 8:13 PM

After going about 2 months uncalibrated, it was time to put a stop to everything so noturally I went out to search for the cheapest option there was to pick up a colormeter for my monitors. I started looking at some of Pantone's new budget calibrators (through a parnership with Greyteg Macbeth). I was initially going to pick up the Pantone Huey which I found for around $70 shipped until I saw this gem: The Eye-one Display LT. eek On the outside it looks exactly like the Eye-one Display 2 which I used briefly last year except for the labelling. I ended up checking out with Google and got the Eye-one Display LT from buy.com for ~$89 shipped.

Inside this black box is the answer to your reds looking red and your blues looking blue. ohnoes

The Pantone Eye-One Display LT eek

Interestingly enough, Pantone says that if you ever need the extra features of the Gretag Macbeth Eye-One Display 2, you can pay extra to upgrade the software (ability to profile multiple monitors & test ambient light) which means the two units are probably exactly the same hardware (the LT even comes with the ambient cover even though the included software won't measure it). To test this out I went to the Gretag Macbeth site and downloaded the latest version of their Match software and calibrated my LCD.

And...? Surprise surprise, you don't even have to pay extra to use the ambient meter. You just need to download different software, which means I get a Eye-one Display 2 for half the price. smilesdd As for dual monitor support, I was never even able to find the support for it when I did use the Display 2 but this site goes into detail of how to set up seperate monitor profiles even if the calibration software doesn't support it.

Thursday - TV Day

October 12, 2006 - 1:09 AM

Ever since I built my Phivo, I've been watching a lot more TV than I used to, but it's not so bad because there are a bunch of good TV shows on right now. bowdown Heres what I plan on watching this year (in no particular order, just kidding it's in alphabetical order):

24
Battlestar Galactica
Entourage
Grey's Anatomy
My Name is Earl
The Office bowrofl
The Unit

If Sleeper Cell airs this year, I'll probably watch that too. I gotta root for my boy Darwin tear I might start watching Rome or Lost too, but I'm not sure. I got season 1 and 2 of Lost and season 1 of Rome, just not sure if I want to invest the time into watching them. hs

Oh, btw if you watch The Office, make sure to check out this deleted scene from the last episode (S02E03). It shouldn't have been deleted imo. bowrofl

edit: It appears as if Sleeper Cell will be airing this year!

Next episode: Torture
synopsis to come...
Airs: Friday December 1, 2006

200 lines!

October 11, 2006 - 9:56 PM

After trying to beat marathon mode (finish 200 lines) in Tetris DS for a couple days, I finally did it before History class today. bowdown After unlocking the endless mode, I took it a step further...

eek I love the feeling when I make mistakes and block up 3/4 of the screen and work my way back down towards the bottom. bowdown That probably happened like 5 times during that game above and I was about to give up, but I kept on going. Lesson of the day: never quit. eek

Things are going pretty well. School is finally picking up again and I'm back to working out after a 4 month break ohnoes I can barely finish a set on the incline bench bowrofl redface

I got most of the stuff from my last post done. I had my interview which I think went pretty well, finished a bunch of homework, picked up NBA 2k7, fixed my nail in the tire. The only thing I have left to do is ship back the defective product I got from Winsunx. Apparently they ship the product from China, but I have to send it back to Macau which isn't on the map, at least to Fedex. Going to try to ship it back using USPS right now. rice
