Exactly a year ago, I was on academic probation with the risk of going on academic contract if I had another bad quarter. I was enrolled in twenty units, so the choice after midterms became very clear. Drop Thermodynamics. The mean on the midterm was a 27.5% (12/40) and I was to the left of the hump (not like he curved anyway). With 16 units, I worked my way from the naughty list to the nice list; I switched over from AP to the Dean's List.
Things this year are more or less the same, but with a twist! Instead of being on academic probation, I'm coming off a quarter where I was on Dean's List (and no, I don't plan on going on AP this quarter to create some weird twilight zone occurance). A year ago this quarter, I was taking Thermodynamics and Statistics. This year, I'm taking Thermodynamics and Statistics/Management for Engineers. Talk about dejavu! 
Unfortunately, I don't have the option to drop anymore because instead of 20 units, I'm taking 12. I had intentionally enrolled in 20 units Spring 2005 so I could drop a class.
Well, I don't have that luxury this time around. 
I had two midterms last week (Earth's Atmosphere and Thermodynamics). The good news is I did more than twice as well in Thermodynamics as I did last year this time around. The bad news is it's still not a passing grade. 
Well, not unless I ace the final.
