Combining Exposures (quick mask)

Combining exposures or using HDR in Photoshop is a good way to increase the dynamic range of your photos. This video tutorial also goes over quick mask and how to use quickmask to combine two exposures manually. (This may also be helpful for spot editing photos, so even if you don't do a lot of landscapes, this might be of use to you)
