[site update] gallery up

November 28, 2003 - 3:02 AM

I added a navigation (which took longer than you would think it would...) and fixed the gallery layout. If you view full size photos the gallery will "break out" of the site's frame and destroy its aesthetics, but I would rather the site's layout suffer than to remove full sized photo viewing completely. tear

Happy Thanksgiving

November 27, 2003 - 2:00 AM

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am very thankful to have this site and this new layout which I love. It was originally a design for a "client" but it got rejected. I personally liked it a lot, so I have decided to implement it into the new version. Good-bye splash pages. They may return in some other form or shape, but for the time being.. no.

I still have a lot of stuff to do on this page including revamping the search/comments/etc. pages and bringing over the gallery from the old layout to this layout and creating a navigation to go inbetween, but for the most part.. things are looking good. tear Let me know if you have any issues viewing the site because I was only able to test it in Mozilla and IE.

Done.

November 26, 2003 - 1:45 AM

Ok. I ported all the old entries over. So now we have everything. tear

All I need now is to edit the templates and get it to fit my cool new theme. I'll finish this tomorrow.

phidong version 3 ate phidong version 2

November 26, 2003 - 12:46 AM

I talked about it for like 2 minutes, and then I did it. This is a pre-rendered layout. I'm going to be working on a new layout and implementing this script into it. Enjoy for now I guess.. nothing. Heh.

phidong.com version three point zero

November 26, 2003 - 12:25 AM

Believe it or not. It will be released by December 1, 2003. I'm switching journal software over to Moveable Type. Greymatter is good, but banned from my host, unfortunately. The move will be accompanied by a layout change. Unsure how I will move my archives over. :|

I'm driving this now:

November 21, 2003 - 11:02 AM

So.. where have you been phi?!

November 21, 2003 - 2:58 AM

I studied twice this week, for like 12 hrs each day. It sucked. Had an essay due yesterday along with a midterm and a midterm before that day.. so I've been busy. I think I'm going to fail Physics. But all work and no fun makes Phi a very very sad boy. So Phi has been playing this new game that came out called Need for Speed: Underground. A very fun game indeed. Here are two pictures of cars I have..

Sure I have a Celica, Skyline, 240sx, Miata, RX-7, Golf GTI, Sentra GTR.. but whats the fun if you don't look back at where you came from:

Then.. we gotta love the RICE! I have Level 2 suspension upgrades, but I decided not to use it on this one. My drifter. I guess lack of suspension drifts more.. I never really tested it, but I get pretty insane scores with this car. Intentional rice.. nice. grin

Gotta have the yellow USDM Integra Type R! Too bad theres no JDM shit here.. :[

Damn the Lancer. I want an EVO8 :P I fixed it up anyway.. haha wink

And the current car I'm driving. Celica. BooYAW! I would drive the Civic, but the Celica is a bit better modded.. so.. eh :x I'm so used to the shifting too, so.. but I still love the Civ cuz ITS MY BABAAY :X

In game screen shot. BEAAAUTIFUL tear

Thats all for now. Too bad I can't make my own designs.. frown Still haven't beaten the game.. but soon my friends.. soon! grin If anyone wants to drift me online.. lemme know.. I'll destroy you. I got a 360,000 score in 10 laps tear

the latest

On the real, I feel lost.

people come and go, thats life.

i hate it, but i live it.

some things are forgettable

all things are inevitable.

you live to die.

perhaps it wouldn't be worth it to know why..

we live our lives

grow close, only to say goodbye

i dunno if its worth it... i think..

i've lost my purpose........

I'm lost, feel abandonned..

it seems like I've been forgotten..

I'm just an artifact of the past

its a fact, good guys comes in last

ur probably like what'd he say

that shit is so cliche

but its true.. and i'm cynical

how can you lose and be a winna tho?

but thats life, you lose to gain

you sacrifice to feel pain

you act nice only to realize ur insane

why the fuck do i go on?

when i realize this path i'm on is all wrong

cuz i know once u gone this far

going back is nothing but wish fal

don't try to sympathize, cuz u have no idea

i sleep my nights in sorrow in tears

walkin past people in fear

i know where i'm from, but where am i going

i dunno.. i dunno.. i dunno

My Hole

November 14, 2003 - 6:17 PM

I don't understand. I've been in this situation, or at least moving towards it for years. No one dared, or even though about intervening, stopping me from pummeling to my own doom. Yet now, as I fall into my hole people suddenly feel the urge to be "nice and caring and kind and helpful and 'homie'" enough to attempt to help me. Well, guess what? You're the reason I'm here in the first place.

I don't understand. Why is it that after I'm already in my descent that you attempt to even feel the bittest urge of sorrow.. Does my unhappiness make you unhappy, or is it the fact that you feel bad for me. I don't need your cries or sympathy, really. You see. YOU abandoned me. It was never the other way around. Why should you feel guilty now that I'm being consumed by a peanut (more on that later)? You shouldn't. You assume fault, but there isn't anyone to blame but me.

Some say this was destiny, fate.. I don't care. Whatever it was, it was inevitable. I saw this coming just like I can read your mind and the future. I'm falling. Not in love, but down my hole. I wish this was love.. at least the crashing fall wouldn't be as bad in the end. I hope it ends soon, though. I do hate falling.

To ANON:

November 13, 2003 - 8:41 PM

Seriously, if you want to post rude comments.. reveal yourself. The purpose on this site is to liberate my mind, so if you offend me.. don't.

I'm sorry. I'm not exactly sure WHO you are, but apparently you're really bent on annoying me. You seem too cowardly to confront me using your real name, meaning you're not worth my time. I'm going to make this short.

According to: http://www.noahgrey.com/greysoft/faq.shtml

"Is Greymatter free? Are there any strings attached? Do I have to donate to you?

Yes, no, and no. =) Greymatter is absolutely one-thousand-percent a free program; download it, use it, enjoy it, and don't worry about any ifs, ands, or buts?because there aren't any. There aren't any icons you're required to keep on your page, there aren't any banner ads you're required to display, there's no time limit that's going to kick in down the road. (If there ever is a Greymatter 2.0/Greymatter Pro version in the future, I *might* charge a fee for that, but all 1.x versions are now and always will be completely free.) Donating will certainly make me very happy, but that's not required either. "

According to: http://noahgrey.com/greysoft/

Noah is now under the creative commons license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/1.0/

"c. If you distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, or publicly digitally perform the Work or any Derivative Works or Collective Works, You must keep intact all copyright notices for the Work and give the Original Author credit reasonable to the medium or means You are utilizing by conveying the name (or pseudonym if applicable) of the Original Author if supplied; the title of the Work if supplied; in the case of a Derivative Work, a credit identifying the use of the Work in the Derivative Work (e.g., "French translation of the Work by Original Author," or "Screenplay based on original Work by Original Author"). Such credit may be implemented in any reasonable manner; provided, however, that in the case of a Derivative Work or Collective Work, at a minimum such credit will appear where any other comparable authorship credit appears and in a manner at least as prominent as such other comparable authorship credit. "

Well, since there isn't really any authorship credit page on my site, I never linked to Noah, but I never took credit for this script either. If Noah wanted me to post an image/link to his site.. I would gladly do it. Greymatter is the best piece of journaling software I've ever implemented on any website. I would never take credit for something that I didn't do.

Posting a link on my site wouldn't do much. www.phidong.com brings in less than 20 hits a week if not a month. I have vouched for Noah Grey's software in countless places and have never denied or taken credit for his software running my non-commercial journal page.

Seriously, I give him all credit. He basically runs my site:

somethingleet

"Noah Grey is cool.. definitely a true inspiration. I actually stumbled across him while making a journal website (Grey Matter).. its also the script he uses to display all his images in his photo journal, and he puts it out there for people to d/l..

Great script.. even better photography. His pictures are all so crisp and clear and nice.. well composed... thanks for the interview.. it made for an interesting read. "

iphotoforum.com

"Nate, try grey matter. Its one of the most powerful scripts I've used for journal sites. You can check it out in action at www.phidong.com .. Its super easy to modify/skin.. and easy to implement as well.

It was written by a really great photographer too, which uses it on his site as a photo journal (www.noahgrey.com)

and you can check out the script here:

http://www.noahgrey.com/greysoft/

Good luck.

[edit]

Heres a screen shot of how I update.. "

"Really? Thats quite odd.. I didn't think greymatter used mySQL? At least I have it on two servers .. one @ www.philoader.net/pdi/ and that server doesn't have mySQL at all..

and I have one installed at phidong.com which ahs mySQL but I don't have a database set up =x"

If you scroll down to my messages, you will see I refered him to many people. If you seriously think that I'm dishonoring him by not posting a link on this page.. you are wrong. You're right in one regard though, there is a link missing on my page, and I've added it. No, not to his journal software but to his photo journal page which I visit regularly. Noah is a great photographer and an inspiration to me. 'Nuff said.

If you don't want to tell me who you are, stop posting.. and definitely stop trolling this site. Thank you.

As an update to this post:

I banned ANON from the site on 11-13-03 via .htaccess. ANON was accessing this webpage from a Sacramento dialup ISP, so I had to ban ANON's whole subnet. Unfortunate, but it happens. If ANON returns, I will be contacting ANON's ISP and will make sure ANON doesn't ever come back. tear

I've always known I had an acute case of CTS b/c my wrists would hurt sometimes, but over the last two days its become unbearable. To say it hurts a lot is and understatement. I will be away for a bit recovering...
