the guy at the computer place said it IS something wrong with the power supply...what shall i do? he says he's not authorised to fix dell's...help me...please...

Damn. I'm a genius. Dells are easy to open up.. they use a clamshell design. Just lay it down and press the buttons on the top and bottom of the tower and open it up. The power supply is right on the other side of where you plug that big black prong on the back. Check to see if its plugged in everywhere. For sure your powersupply won't work if its not grounded (on the motherboard) which is that huge board where everything is connected. So make sure its plugged in there. If you want, unplug wires and plug them back in to make sure they're all seated right. Remember to ground yourself by touching the metal inside the case. When you're done, plop it back on your desk and plug everything back in. If it doesn't work.. your powersupply is busted. See if you're still in warranty period.. contact Dell if you are. If not, you'll have to go buy a new power supply. Dells usually come w/ a 250-300w power supply. I'd get a 300w .. and then just swap it out. Its easy stuff my dear.
